I want to try to feel like a child again

I want to sing out my joy at the top of my lungs
I want to feel protected when monster fear comes
I want to run through the rain
and hug the whole world with a smile
I want to see it all again through the eyes of a child

And I learnt how to walk
to stand on my own feet
and I learnt how to talk
and I had to learn defeat
and I learnt to be independent
and that made me feel so free
but my mistakes made me dependent again
and I found myself very angry

Now I want to scream out my anger at the top of my lungs
I want to hide behind doors when monster fear comes
I want to run into your arms
because I want to feel safe for a while
I want to see it all again through the eyes of a child

And I learnt to be quiet
and how to behave
and I learnt not to cry
and how to be brave
and I learnt to think logically
and to live a decent life
yes, I learnt to think rationally
I became clever enough to survive
