Wake Up And Smell The Coffee
by Sabine Fiegl
Wake up and smell the coffee I heard him say
I was sitting in the subway on this very strange day
Wake up don‘t you see what‘s going on
I heard him shout out loud something‘s going so wrong
I thought who is he who is this wannabe
trying to catch my attention
dressed in dirty clothes with a whole lot of holes
neither work nor home not worth to be mentioned
He said, you live for the money that‘s easy to treat
you seem to be on the sunny side of the street
so how funny to look into your bored faces
don‘t you realize how strange this place is
Wake up...
It was pouring rain I was sitting in the train
trying to get some relaxation
I had to look at this guy I looked him right in the eye
and I saw his big desperation
He screamed, the rich get richer and poorer the poor
look at this city it‘s just a big whore
and the lure of her nightlife
is bringing you down
Wake up...
I thought who is he who is this wannabe
trying to catch my attention
dressed in dirty clothes with a whole lot of holes
neither work nor home not worth to be mentioned
Oh my God who am I to crucify this guy
his sight might be quite right so why
do we turn our heads and look the other way
we‘re embarassed to hear him say
Wake up...
